Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Design Oversight

Lead structural and layout design reviews, verifying that plans, drawings, and calculations comply with relevant UK codes and project specifications.

Mentor and review work of junior engineers and draftsmen, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and adherence to best practices.

Evaluate proposals for alternative construction methods or materials, advising clients and contractors on risk, feasibility, and cost implications.

Site Management and Inspection

Supervise key on-site operations including RC frame casting, setting out, alignment checks, and formwork.

Carry out regular inspections and instrumental checks (e.g. total stations, laser levels) to ensure work meets tolerance limits and design intent — issuing corrective actions where necessary.

Oversee health & safety compliance and quality management procedures on site, ensuring construction practices meet legal and client standards.

Quality Assurance & Control

Prepare and administer Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality audit schedules, and conformance reports.

Document findings, non-conformances, and remedial measures, providing clear feedback and direction to contractors.

Lead final acceptance checks, snagging, and handover inspections to confirm that deliverables meet specification before client sign-off

Resource Planning & Project Support

Allocate internal and subcontractor resources, optimizing work packages and scheduling to meet project milestones.

Provide guidance in procurement of specialist services (e.g. third-party testing, surveying) and integration into project workflows.

Deputise for site agents or project leads when required, ensuring continuity and consistency in project delivery.
